The site
The site is located on Knowle Park Avenue and was formerly occupied by the predominantly 2-storey, 53-bedroom, Meadowside Care Home. The site benefits from an attractive position next to Staines Park, screened by mature trees which help to create an attractive amenity space outside the building.
Access to the site was via the entrance from Knowle Park Avenue at the eastern corner of the site boundary with additional pedestrian access closer to the entrance to the park.
Meadowside Care Home has been closed since 2022 and is scheduled for demolition by the end of 2026. Below are some photographs of how the building currently appears.
... and the surrounding area
The area immediately to the north and west of the site is a public park, with semi-detached residential properties to the south and west. Further north is the Staines Magistrates Court and Staines County Court. Knowle Park Avenue is predominantly residential in nature with 2-3 storey semi-detached 20th century houses clad in red brick with clay tiled roofs being the most common. There is a three storey apartment block, at the junction of Knowle Park Avenue and Kingston Road. Below is a selection of photographs that show the context of the site.
